Revenge porn is a felony in Arizona and offenders are now subject to jail time and the label of sex offender. Governor Jan Brewer signed the bill last week making it a state law yesterday.
Does the new law criminalize the current media protocol? Does it protect citizens or violate our bill of rights? The American Civil Liberties Union claims the new revenge porn law to be unconstitutional and thus has filed suit against the state of Arizona.
Revenge porn is clearly a a violation of ones dignity and is a horrific form of harassment. Unfortunately there is a dark side to human nature and many angry, hostile and malicious individuals are engagingly in this abusive form of vengeance. It is sad, disturbing and a reality in our global Internet society.
